Driving on Left & Right

Over 20 countries drive on the left side of the road (shown in blue above). Including Japan, India, UK Ireland, Australia and States in Southern Africa . Together they  account for 100’s of millions of drivers.  From a usability point of view interacting with a touch screen navigator with the right hand is very different for using it with the left hand.

Driving on different sides of the road and using the left or right hands also means that the information is processed by different part of the brain.

Quite apart  from the difficulty of right handed users interacting with their  left hand, there is a cross over effect between the left and right sides of the brain which delays comprehension and reaction time.
